The Queens meme #14-Do you believe in magic?

1. Tell us about your superstitions. Do you have any? Do you "x out" black cats on the windshield of your car, avoid cracks in the sidewalk or practice other rituals that make you feel safer?
Don't have any? Come on now! Make up some....

x-nay on the black cats and cracks in the sidewalk-but i will say that i believe in some of the pregnancy superstitions such as "marking the baby" (by seeing something that frightens you while you are pregnant)
or wrapping the cord around the baby's neck, and feeding your cravings. i believe this because it has actually happened to me with both of my children
2. Has anything paranormal ever happened to you that you can write about? the only thing that comes to mind is a dream i had about my mother after she passed away. i had put the house up for sale and moved about 50 miles away. i had been in my apartment for about 3 weeks when i had this dream. in the dream, it was during the day,, and heard someone knock at the door. i had a little hallway going to the door, and as i was going to answer it, the door opened, and it was my mother-she had her purse in her hand, and her maroon windbreaker over her left arm, just like she always did, and when i saw her, i started crying. she said what on earth is the matter? why are you crying?" i said "because i know that you can't stay"
she said "well, i wanted to see your apartment, and the furniture that don (her brother that was the executor of the estate) had bought you". so we went on into the living room and sat down, she on the couch and me in the massage chair that i had bought. she looked around at everything, and asked me if i was happy in sevierville, and if i liked my apartment. how was jonah doing in his new school, and if samantha was doing okay.
mother passed away on thursday, and the following week samantha found out that she was pregnant. (mother would have absolutely sh** as samantha wasn't married and living with bobby-before she died mother had told me if samantha got pregnant that she wasnt going to come bringing it in her OR me.)
now, when i got pregnant with samantha 23 years ago, mother had a fit-it was as if she really believed  that the only reason i was out whoring around was to embarrass her-she'd told me that if i ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT LIVE without sex, that she'd take me to get on birth-control-people were going to look at her and say "well, what did you expect-look at her mother" because mom was the first one divorced in the family waaayyyy back around 1966 or so. she said some VERY ugly things to me and never apologized. i had to let it go because i knew it would never happen.
but in the dream, mother knew about samantha, even though it was unspoken between us, she knew, and thats why she asked about her. she asked me if i was helping her and supporting her, and when i said yes, she said that was good, that it was important for me to support her.
she looked around at everything and said it was really nice, and that she had just come by to check on me, to make sure that i was happy in my apartment and in sevierville. she didn't get up and leave, or fade from view or anything like that-i just woke up. and felt her get up off my bed.

3. Have you ever had a near-death experience?
the closet thing was when i had open-heart surgery in 1993-not an out of body experience though

4. Pheromones...aka "love fireworks" (I think I remember those)...are a force to be reckoned with. Do you believe that two people can have an uncontrollable chemical reaction to each other? How do you know this to be true?
yes, because it has happened to me more than once!!

5. Do you believe that modern day witches can put spells on people?
If so, who would you like to hoodoo and why?
i dont know for sure, but i'd have to say yes. if i could do something like that and it not come back on me, when i was going through my second divorce (i grew my hair out for a man that left me for a woman with hair shorter than his!) it would have been the "other woman", and during my last divorce, it would've been my ex just because of the hell he put us through. BUT, if i did something like that, i'd be afraid that it would return to me two-fold, so i leave all that to God.

6. ESP! What do those letters stand for in your life?
my mother had a gift-i think she was clairavoyant-so when i think of the paranormal, i think of the things that she experienced and told me about. she "knew" things that always seemed to come to pass. whenever we'd hear about someone on tv going missing, she could tell me whether they would be found alive or not-in particular, she knew that  Natalie Holloway's body would never be found-that joran van der sloot was the guilty party, and that she was in the water. she also would see the dead from time to time. she could also read cards.

7. Do you ever hear strange noises in your house?
If so, what do they sound like?
no. i don't have that gift.

8. Tell us about a time you "knew" something was going to happened before it did. Are you one of those intuitive types or do you know someone who is ? Do tell.
after i moved to sevierville, i thought it would be nice to find someone to date, but just like before, i heard the words "just wait on wiseowl" (that's my husbands cherokee name). i knew that we would find each other again and that we would get married-and i hadn't talked to him in about 2 years!!
and i knew my daughter was pregnant before i bought the pregnancy test

9. I'm a tad gifted in the dream department. Really. Sometimes my dreams are prophetic and come true. It can be a blessing and a curse. Has this ever happened to you? If not, would you like to have this gift? (Be careful what you wish for. It can be freaky at times.)
well, i've already told you about my biggie, but yes, sometimes i have dreams that come true, and yes, it can be freaky!

bryar meets ronald mcdonald

my daughter sent me these pictures from her phone-isn't technology wonderful? ronald was at the mcdonalds across from her work, and she was able to take my grandson in to see him. bryar couldn't have cared less-she said that he didn't want anything to do with him. it kinda put me in mind of the first time you see santa. but samantha really enjoyed it!
i always wanted to meet ronald when i was growing up. the closest i came to that was watching the commercials on tv. i don't think he ever came around close to the town i lived in then, and i think this must be the closest that he's ever been to our town now. samantha was absolutely ticked to death!

my kitties and the parakeet

my daughter works at our local PetCareWarehouse and i recently asked her if they might be able to get in a canary for me. my grandmother had canaries and i loved to hear them sing, and i have wanted one for years. the manager said that she could, so i told them whenever i got completely moved, then i would get one.
samantha calls me up friday and says "mom, guess what i got you? a bird". i told her i thought that i had said to wait until i got moved, and she said that a customer had brought one in, just wanting to get rid of it, and it had EVERYTHING with it: cage, seed, treats, toys, etc., and it was free, so she got it for me. here is a picture of it:does that look like a canary? samantha was just thrilled that she had gotten such a wonderful bird for me and free to boot! *sigh*
jonah got an overnight pass, so i was taking him to nc to the house we're moving to, and samantha called while we were on our way up there. she had come by the house to get bryar's bed and wanted to know where i was. when i told her, she then informed me that she hadn't known i wasn't going to come back to the apartment and she had brought the bird and left her on my dining room table. with 2 cats in the house. one weighing about 10-12 lbs, and the other about 5 months old and ALL over the place. i said if i had a dead bird when i got home i was gonna be mad.
"well, i set it in the middle of the table, i think she'll be ok"
fortunately for her, it was.
i sat birdie's cage in the floor so that she could enjoy the sunlight today. here is my big cat, sebastian, checking out the menu.i took a break from packing and laid down in the floor so that i could be close by if either cat decided to attend culinary school with it. my 5 month old girl, ezme (rhymes with pez me, after edward's mother in the movie twilight-my daughter's picking, not mine) had to lay down with mommy.stupid cat.

guess you can tell just how the sweet little thing has me wrapped! i have never had a cat that tried to literally sleep ON me. she has a habit of getting just as close to me as possible, which would be okay, but she has a very loud purr. and she want to sleep on my head. in my ear. or on my neck. one night this past week, she woke me up trying to creep up on my eye. damn cat.
