Google Privacy Concerns

Google Privacy Concerns

Ever since the Google Street View program was released in May 2007, many people have been complaining about the privacy issues associated with it. Apart from seeing their houses on Google's Web site, people have reported seeing themselves on the Internet as well. Now, I'd say that's taking it a bit too far. If you agree, here’s how you can keep your home and yourself a little more private!

1.) If you don’t want your house to show up in the Google Street View program because of privacy issues, all you have to do is click on the Report a Concern button, shown below.

2.) Next, choose Privacy Concerns for the reason why you don’t want the image shown in Street View.

3.) Now, describe why you don’t want the image in Street View and then enter in your e-mail address.

4.) Next, move the Street View image until the red rectangle is centered over your property.

That's it! Google will then review your concerns and delete the image if they agree with you. Yes!

daily feast-jan 13

January 13 - Daily Feast
Volume II

So few people are worthy of our tears - only a few. Our personal space is invaded and we are made to think we caused the rift that follows. This is an illusion that is not worthy of the price we try to pay. It is the elders' privilege to look back and smile. They, too, have known the ideal, the magnificent, the ultimate - and they have cried. But a da to li s di, that wonderful grace, provided knowledge of how to hold one loose thread in place by joy - not tears. And then came peace.

~ It is the duty of the brave when injured to lay peace aside....and then to lay down again in peaceful quiet. ~

Elder's Meditation of the Day - January 13

"When you remove love and try to replace it with monetary things, you've got nothing ... Get him to understand that he has to love himself before he can love anything else."

--John Peters (Slow Turtle), WAMPANOAG

It is said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." That's the trouble, most of us do.

Great Spirit, You are love; You are spirit. Spirit and love are interconnected. I am spiritual. Let me realize what I am really made of.

'THINK on THESE THINGS'
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler
Bad feelings are burdens. When we get to the point of believing the whole world is sour because we don't understand it, we have a lot of self-searching to do. Maybe we helped it to lose its sweetness. Maybe we're the bad apple that soured the whole lot.
Our first thought should be to make amends. Sometimes we can't, and when such is the case we need to get out of the way and let time and nature take its course.
Life is too beautiful to go on being a bitter pill that insists that everyone swallow it. As in the words of Caleb C. Colton, an English clergyman around the turn of the century, "the man who has so little knowledge of human nature as to seek happiness by changing anything but his own dispositions, will waste his life in fruitless efforts, and multiply the grief which he proposes to remove."
We need to unburden ourselves by forgetting our problems and doing something that will put a smile on someone else's face.
The quickest way to solve the problem of hurt feelings is to inquire if this situation is important to the whole of existence. Does this particular thing mean more than any of the other things of life? It is amazing how quickly trials fade into nothingness when faced with this question. It places before us the need to decide here and now the meaning of our whole existence.
There are not many things in our lives that we can truthfully say mean everything to us. The small things are important and very dear, but the really significant things we count on one hand - life, our loved ones, our good desires, our faith, and our nation.
One of the most magnified situations in this day is taking life too seriously. In the stress of too much mental confusion, we seem unable to laugh off so many little irritations. We let personality rule us into making each little problem the source of great anxiety and dramatically lay hold of it until it chokes us.
The worthwhile side of this life is too important to let ourselves become involved with things that mean little to us. Too much of the trouble in the world is caused from ego-building important that would never be missed in anyone's existence.

The Queen's Meme-The Blabbermouth Meme

1. When you were a child did you ever blab a family secret and get in trouble for it later?
yes. i remember that  when i was about 5 or 6, my uncle who was in his 20's at the time, had a friend  whose unmarried teenage sister had a baby. on the way to see her and the new baby, my grandmother pronounced judgment on her, saying she was a whore. (remember this was about 1969 or 1970). we had a good visit as far as i can remember, and as we were getting to leave, the 16 yr old came out with the baby. her mom told her that she needed to take the baby back in the house as it could get sick being so little and being outside. i asked her if i could as her a question, and she smiled and said "yes sure".
i then proceeded to ask her if she was a whore?
her eyes filled up with tears, and she looked at her parents. my family was MORTIFIED. and my mother said "angelia, why did you say that" and i said "grandmother said she was and i just wanted to know if she was right"

grandmother said "no, i didnt say that" and i said, "yes you did. you said that on the way over here"
the parents said that it was a shame that such a good visit had to be ruined this way, and that it was time for us to leave.
i remember my family talking about this all on the way home, and my grandmother was so mad at me!! my mother did stand up for me by telling her that if she didn't want the other family to know what she really felt about the girl, she shouldn't have said it in front of me, because she knew that small children parroted everything they heard.

2. Have you said anything in the last 24 hours that you regret? yes. i got mad at my son, and yelled and said some bad words.

3. Have you ever blabbermouthed something to a significant other that in hindsight you really should have kept to yourself? given the hell that living with my last ex-husband was, at that time, i shouldn't have run my mouth like i did, but now.....i wouldnt take any of it back, because he's a ASS!!!

4. Have you ever written anything on your blog that you wish you could take back? no not yet, but if i felt like that i probably just delete it.

5. Are you the blabber or the blabbee? Tell us your most embarrassing blabbermouth moment. when i was younger right on up until i was about 27 or so, i was the blabber. but after having to apologize a few too many times, i learned to keep my mouth shut. now i'm just the blabbee.

6. Who is the biggest blabbermouth tattletale in your household? when my husbands sons aren't here, it would be my 11 yr old son, but when they are, it would be his 8 yr old son

7. You are the Blog Paparazzi! Which blogger's real photograph are you most interested in getting? probably Winivere's . i have an idea that she is probably ALOT prettier and smaller than she thinks.

8. If you could hire the loudest and most skilled blabbermouth in the universe to do your talking for you and advertise it well, what message would you like to spread to humanity? Don't hold back.
that we better be getting prepared the gov't isn't being totally honest with us.

man-flu!!!

Having been near paralyzed with a devastating bout of Man-Flu
this week, and receiving precisely no sympathy from any of my
female colleagues, I've decided it's time to dispel the myths
about this terrible affliction that smug women everywhere
seem all too eager to believe.

1. Man-Flu is more painful than childbirth.  This is an irrefutable
scientific fact*.
*(Based on a survey of over 100,000 men.)

2. Man-Flu is not 'just a cold'.  It is a condition so severe that
the germs from a single Man-Flu sneeze could wipe out entire
tribes of people living in the rainforest.  And probably loads of
monkeys too.

3. Women do not contract Man-Flu.  At worst they suffer from
what is medically recognized as a 'Mild Girly Sniffle' - which, if
a man caught, he would still be able to run, throw a ball, tear
the phone book in half and compete in all other kinds of manly
activities.

4. Men do not 'moan' when they have Man-Flu.  They emit
involuntary groans of agony that are entirely in proportion to
the unbearable pain they are in.

5. Full recovery from Man-Flu will take place much quicker if
their simple requests for care, sympathy and regular cups of
tea are met.  Is that really so much to ask?  Florence Nightingale
would have done it

6. More men die each year from MFN (Man-Flu Neglect) than
lots and lots of other things.

7. Men suffering from Man-Flu want nothing more than to get
out of bed and come to work, but they are too selfless to risk
spreading this awful condition amongst their friends and
colleagues.  In this sense, they are the greatest heroes this
country has ever known.

8. In 1982 scientists managed to simulate the agonizing symptoms
of full blown Man-Flu in a female chimp.  She became so ill that
her head literally fell off.

9. Man-Flu germs are more powerful than He-Man, The
Thundercats and The A-Team combined.  They are too strong
for weak, nasty tasting 'lady medicines' like Lemsip, so don't
bother trying to force them on a victim of Man-Flu.

10. While it may seem like a Man-Flu sufferer is just lying around
enjoying 'Diagnosis Murder' it is a commonly recognized medical
fact that the exact pitch and frequency of Dick Van Dyke's voice
has remarkable soothing powers.

Every minute in this country one man is struck down by Man-Flu.
Women, all we ask is that each of you offers them a cup of tea,
some kind words and your undivided attention and care.  Then
maybe, just maybe, we'll beat this monstrous disease together.

snow in the high country

how beautiful our area is now with all the snow. we are having our third snow for the season now. last week we had 10 inches-ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS-although we ended up house bound for 4 days. jonah and i had alot of fun sledding down our driveway-i ended up wiping out several times when the disk spun around! my hat came off, i fell backwards-i think i ended up still going down on the sled. i had so much fun-i had forgotten how much fun sledding was-hadn't done it since i was a kid at my grandmothers and papaws house.
it was pretty well melted except for a few spots here and there and the right side of our driveway-AND we have learned that we cannot leave my car on top by the house....when we heard the forecast called for snow again, we have parked it down on the lower part of the driveway, close to the mailbox. but i don't think it will be taken out anytime soon as the road is still snowy.
school has been called off for tomorrow, which is no surprise to us. jonahs teacher told me that if it doesn't get to 21 degrees, the snow melt that the highway dept puts out doesn't melt the ice. my husband is driving the isuzu. im so glad that he had the foresight to get something like that. i was living in sevierville when i bought my car, so i didn't really need something with 4 wheel drive. if i had been in a place like this, i would've been looking for one.
fortunately, we have the supplies that we need. milk, bread, toilet paper. can't do without any of those!
