Grandma's funeral
11:04 PM
I haven't kept up with my blog this past week, as my husbands grandmother in Michigan passed away last weekend. He thought that he would not go, as he has his own business commercial kitchen equipment repair and had clients he was in the middle of working for. My father-in-law called and was upset, needing his son, I think, for emotional support, so Joel called me to see if I would be able to go with him. Of course, I said.
I have class on Mon & Tues., so afterwards, I hurried home to begin packing. I drove to North Carolina to pick him up, and we got started about 10:30 pm on the 11 hour trip to Watervliet, Michigan.
We got to our motel and literally RAN to our run to change and RAN back to our car. We didnt manage to get there in time for the funeral, but got there just as the line was forming to go to the gravesite. We had called his dad, so they were waiting on us. Joel wanted me to take pictures of the grave side service-I did take a few, but I kind of feel that just as a wedding ceremony is sacred, so is a funeral, so i didn't get as many as he would have liked. But he was pleased with the ones that I did take. I have to say that the cemetery was beautiful-many many of the graves were decorated with colorful arrangements.
I met a lot of Joels family-he said I was the ONLY one of his wives that had met any others beside his parents and step-parents. We got to visit just a short while with the family at Cracker Barrel. I got a lot of pictures of him with his Grandpa-they were so sweet. Isn't he such a handsome fellow? I just love the elderly.
I have more pictures of our trip-we stayed in a beautiful motel that had a HUGE indoor water park. The 1oo degree hot tub REALLY HELPED my aching legs and feet. ahhh....relief...I almost cried...I must get a hot tub one day that has those wonderful jets!!
I will be playing catch up over the next few day with all that I would like to post.
Much love to all, entsala
